The name Tlecoatl reflects movement, strength, transformation, preservation, and the continuation of cultural memory. It represents our commitment to preserving and sharing Indigenous Mexican culture through danza, prayer, education, and community.

Tlecoatl Danza Mexika brings tradition and spirit to the community through dances that serve as prayers and cultural expressions.
The feathers carried high, the rhythm created by the ayoyotes, the movement of the regalia, the sonajas, and the sound of the drum each carry meaning. Together, these elements connect the danzantes to their ancestors, Indigenous roots, community, and future generations.
Our danza is not presented only as entertainment. It is an offering, a responsibility, and a living cultural tradition.

From Los Angeles to Idaho
2010 - Los Angeles, California
Tlecoatl was established in Los Angeles by a collective of danzantes coming together from different groups throughout the United States.
2022 - A New Chapter in Idaho
Following an unexpected death in the family, the group relocated from California to Idaho and began rebuilding its presence in the Treasure Valley.
Today - Continuing the Circle
Tlecoatl continues to practice, preserve tradition, educate the community, and welcome connections with danzantes from different backgrounds and groups.
The original spirit remains the same: coming together as one through prayer, movement, culture, and community.
